What is a flexi-job?
A flexi-job is a form of employment that allows an employee to take on an extra job under favourable conditions.
Not everyone is eligible for the flexi-job scheme. The government sets certain requirements, which differ depending on whether or not you are retired.
Who can take on a flexi-job?
Requirements for your situation.
If you are not retired
Flexi-jobs at TopAngels for people who are not retired
- Three quarters ago, you worked at least four-fifths of full-time hours throughout the quarter for one or more employers other than TopAngels.
- You are not employed by TopAngels under another employment relationship during the current quarter.
- You are not serving a notice period or in a period covered by compensation in lieu of notice at TopAngels.
You can take on a flexi-job in October, November and December if you worked at least four-fifths of full-time hours in January, February and March of the same year.
Switching from full-time to four-fifths? You can only take on a flexi-job from the third quarter following this change.
If you are retired
Flexi-jobs at TopAngels for pensioners
- You are already aged 65 or over when you wish to take on the flexi-job.
- Are you under 65 when you retire? You can take on a flexi-job after retirement if you:
- worked at least four-fifths of full-time hours throughout the quarter three quarters ago, for one or more employers other than TopAngels;
- were listed in the pension register two quarters ago.
- In this situation too, you cannot be employed by TopAngels under another employment relationship during the current quarter.
What are the benefits?
The financial benefits of a flexi-job.
The gross-to-net advantage
You receive net pay on which no social security contributions are due and, subject to exceptions, no income tax.
Social security entitlements
You build up social security entitlements, including holiday, pension and unemployment benefit entitlements.
Tax exemption
Are you retired? Your income from a flexi-job is tax-exempt. It is not taxed.
Not yet receiving a statutory pension? The exemption then applies to the first €12,000 per year. This also applies if you are not yet receiving an early statutory pension.
